Attendance
At Chandlers Ridge Academy , our attendance target is 96%
At Chandlers Ridge, we have high ambitions for every child, and excellent attendance is key to success. Our target of 96% reflects our commitment to ensuring pupils access every opportunity to learn, thrive and flourish. Being in school every day supports wellbeing, strengthens belonging and gives children the very best start in life, preparing them confidently for the future.
Be an Attendance H.E.R.O.
Regular attendance and good punctuality is vital to children’s academic progress and wellbeing. Even small amounts of absence over time can have a significant impact on learning. We work in partnership with families to encourage each child to be an attendance H.E.R.O.!

Attendance is monitored daily. Where attendance falls below expected levels, parents and carers will be contacted and may be invited to attend a meeting to discuss support and next steps.
For full details on attendance and absence, see our school’s attendance policy.
Reporting Absence
If your child is unwell, please telephone the school before 9.00am on each day of absence, giving the reason for their absence. School will call any parent of a child who is not present in school and whose parents have not informed school of their absence. If school is unable to reach a parent to make this call, it may be necessary for school staff to visit the home to conduct a welfare check.
Leave of absence
In line with Government guidance, term-time holidays will not be authorised unless there are exceptional circumstances. Exceptional circumstances do not include parental work rotas / commitments unless the parent is a serving member of the armed forces.
Requests for leave of absence must be made in advance using the appropriate form, available from the school office. Unauthorised absence may result in a fixed penalty notice being issued.
Medical Appointments
The school must be informed of any medical or dental appointments in advance. Please contact the school office to notify us of appointments. Evidence may be requested.
Support Plans
If attendance falls below 93%, families may be sent a letter outlining concern and offering support to improve school attendance. These children are monitored for improvement.
If attendance drops below 90% (persistent absenteeism) or is a consistent concern, parents will be invited to enter into a support plan whereby school and family can work together to explore barriers to good attendance and strategies to help families to overcome them.
Rewards and Motivation
In EYFS and KS1, children enter into a weekly raffle every time they achieve 100% attendance for a week. This is drawn in an assembly and winners will look after their class’s attendance bear that week!
In KS2, children achieving 98% or higher in a term has achieved excellent attendance! For their first term of excellent attendance, they achieve their bronze award. Two terms gets them their silver award and three terms earns their gold award. Children will be provided with a certificate and a star badge they can wear proudly on their school tie.
