GOVERNANCE
Local governance at Chandlers Ridge Academy
Chandlers Ridge is part of Spark Education Trust. As part of the Trust, the school benefits from both strong local governance and wider Trust oversight.
Each school within the Trust has its own Local Governing Committee (LGC). These committees operate within a clear framework set by the Trust and play an important role in supporting and challenging school leadership.
The role of the Local Governing Committee
The Local Governing Committee at Chandlers Ridge works closely with school leaders to provide oversight and accountability. Its core focus is on ensuring high standards and positive outcomes for pupils.
In particular, the Local Governing Committee:
- holds school leaders to account for performance, progress and attainment
- supports the strategic direction of the school at a local level
- represents the interests of staff, parents and the wider community
- helps ensure that the school’s ethos and values are reflected in everyday practice
Delegated powers and accountability
Local Governing Committees operate under a Scheme of Delegation, which clearly sets out the responsibilities delegated to them by the Trust Board and those retained at Trust level.
The constitution of each Local Governing Committee, including the types and number of members, is also defined within this framework. Here at Chandlers Ridge, our governors work collectively, but also have a portfolio of responsibility in terms of accountability:
Chair of Governors: Mrs P Powell (Attendance & Behaviour)
Vice Chair of Governors: Mrs S Angell (Sports Premium & Pupil Premium)
Governor: R Parker (Early Years)
Governor: V Robertson (Finance)
Governor: A Harris (SEND)
Governor: K Hind (Health and Safety)
Governor: R Ball (Safeguarding)
Governor: G Skidmore (Maths)
Governor: D Robinson (English)
